Creating Tasks
Give Demi something to do and it gets to work. Whether you speak from your wrist, type on your phone, or tap a suggestion, creating a task takes just a few seconds.

Voice on Apple Watch
The fastest way to create a task is right from your wrist. Tap the glowing orb on your Watch home screen, speak your request naturally, and Demi takes it from there. No wake word, no menus -- just tap and talk.
Demi understands natural language, so you can speak the way you normally would. Say something like "Email my team a summary of today's meetings" and Demi will figure out the rest -- checking your calendar, composing the email, and asking for your approval before sending.
Text on iPhone
Open the Demi iPhone app and type your request in the chat interface. This is great for longer, more detailed tasks where you want to spell out exactly what you need. You can include links, names, specific instructions, and any other context that helps Demi do a better job.
Tool Mode Shortcuts
When you know exactly what kind of task you want, use a tool mode shortcut to get started faster. Select from focused modes like Calendar, Tasks, Research, Email, and more. This tells Demi which services to prioritize, so it can jump straight to the right tools without guessing.
For example, selecting the Calendar mode before speaking lets Demi know your request is about scheduling -- so it skips the planning step and gets right to work.
One-Tap Suggestions
Demi learns your patterns and proactively suggests tasks you might want to run. These suggestions appear on your Watch home screen and in the iPhone app. See one that looks useful? Just tap it. The task kicks off immediately with no further input needed.
From the Recurring Tasks Page
If you want to create a task that runs on a schedule, head to the recurring tasks page and tap the + button. Describe what you want done, set when it should run, and Demi handles the rest automatically. More on this in the Recurring Tasks guide.
What Makes a Good Task
The more specific you are, the better Demi performs. A great task tells Demi what to do, which tools to use, and who it involves. Here are a few tips:
- Mention the services you want used -- "check my Asana tasks," "search the web," "send an email"
- Be clear about the output -- a summary, a spreadsheet, a draft email, a calendar event
- Include names, dates, or topics when relevant
Example Tasks
- "Email my team a summary of today's meetings"
- "Research competitors in the AI assistant space and create a spreadsheet"
- "Check my Asana tasks and send me a daily digest"
- "Find news about Tesla and email me the highlights"
